சுருக்கம்:
Thirumanthiram written by Thirumoolar is one of the most important Saiva Siththantha Religious literature in Tamil. In this book, three poem 471, 472 and 476 talk about the birth of male, female and Ali (Transgender). According to Thirumanthiram a child is born as a Transgender if the left and right breaths are equal during male and female sexual intercourse. In 1872 verse says that the place of worship of the Lord is not discriminated between the Lord, the woman, man and the pedu. In Tamil literature, there is a tradition of worshiping the Lord as male, female and transgender (Ali) at the place of worship. But only in Thirumanthiram is the word Pedu used instead of Ali.
